What do you do with 100+ energetic primary students stuck indoors on these rainy days? You bring the music, movement and magic of Musical Corners! 🎧🎸🎻🎤
ChatGPT and I came up with this game where each corner of the hall represents a music genre, Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, and Classical. Today I finally had the chance to try it out! When the music stops, students dash to a corner. A surprise song plays, and if you’re in the matching genre, you’re out! That means you enter the “Challenge Zone” in the centre of the hall for a quick fitness burst before re-joining the fun and swapping places with next group to be “out”.
What do you need?
A music speaker, microphone (optional, but very helpful for large groups), signs for each corner (see image below), and a curated playlist that has at least 10 songs from each genre, then let the “random” function do the rest!
This makes for a fast-paced, inclusive game that blends chance, music appreciation, and movement, while keeping overstimulation in check. Engaging, loud (but purposeful), and a total hit with the kids!
